We just completed our longest backpacking journey yet: 86 miles in seven days! The participants: Maya (who will soon turn 12 and is already an experienced backpacker) and myself. This time, we chose to hike a section of the famous John Muir Trail, heading south. We began early in the morning on the Duck Pass Trail, departing from the Mammoth Lakes area, and finished the trek at South Lake, near Bishop.

Maya and I have just completed one of our most epic hikes to date. Over the course of 4 days, we covered 37 miles. Our journey began at Reds Meadow, near Mammoth Lakes, and concluded at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. During our adventure, we traversed a portion of the renowned John Muir Trail (JMT) heading northbound.

Maya and I just came back from yet another three-day backpacking trip in Yosemite. The trip was one-way, from Happy Isles to Tunnel View parking lot which is located at the east side of Wawona Tunnel. The trail begins ascending through the mist trail providing you with an invigorating and refreshing start. It provides outstanding view point for Yosemite’s classic landmarks.
